Army Career
Derrick Edwards served in the US Army Signal Corps for over 25 years. His deep experience in Information Technology and Information Security enabled him to rise to the top 3% of Warrant Officers (Technical Systems Experts) and culminated in serving as the Chief Technology Officer in the Office of the Chief Information Officer of the Army. His assignments and experience include combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 75th Ranger Regiment and operational assignments in Qatar, Bahrain and Afghanistan with the Joint Communications Support Element. In these assignments, he engineered and secured unified communications for thousands of customers on geographically dispersed bases and camps. Other assignments include airborne tactical communications at Fort Bragg, NC and tactical network plans and operations at Department of the Army Headquarters, the Pentagon. He also provided communications for maneuver units in Texas, Germany, the Panama Canal, Ecuador and El Salvador. He left the active army in 2017 for a position with a federal contracting firm providing IT security and services to the Department of Defense, among other government customers. Industry As a member of NES, a CSRA company, and later General Dynamics Information Technology Army Sector, he serves as a program director and technical consultant focusing on program management, cybersecurity and future technology across a variety of federal contracts, concentrating on the Army enterprise.
