James advises senior executives on the crisis management challenges they face, in particular cyber risks. He helps clients develop and execute security programs to prevent and minimize the business impact of cyber threats. This includes Board education, cyber war gaming, and other strategy efforts as the public and private sector collaboration around cybersecurity. Due to his expertise in cyber risk and crisis management James frequently speaks publicly on developing cyber events. James joined Deloitte after retiring in 2017 from a distinguished 22-year career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Mr. Turgal spent 22 years in the FBI and owned his law firm prior to joining the FBI. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Economics from Northern Arizona University, a Juris Doctorate Law Degree from Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley School of Law and a Masters of Law Degree from Georgetown University Law Center. During his tenure at the FBI, he has held a number of operational positions in a variety of field offices nationwide, working matters as diverse as counterterrorism, intelligence, cyber and organized crime. He also served as the senior FBI Attorney for all Domestic Terrorism operations, and as an FBI pilot. Mr. Turgal served in various management roles, to include serving as a Special Assistant to the FBI Deputy Director—a position that gave him a unique, high-altitude view of the Global FBI from both operational and administrative perspectives. He served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Office, where he provided leadership and critical crisis response and risk management to events, such as the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the ATF Fast and Furious gun scandal. |
